C3 - Cements
There are 27 types of common cement available in Europe. They are specified in:
- BS EN 197-1 Cement. Composition, specifications and conformity criteria for common cements
There are two other Standards in the BS EN 197 series:
- BS EN 197-2 Cement. Conformity evaluation
- BS EN 197-4 Cement. Composition, specifications and conformity criteria for low early strength blastfurnace cements
There is a separate Standard for cement used in masonry:
- BS EN 413-1 Masonry cement. Composition, specifications and conformity criteria
In addition, some British (BS) Standards are still current for cements that are not covered by BS EN 197-1, notably:
- BS 4027 Specification for sulfate-resisting Portland cement
The product specifications are supported by test methods:
- BS EN 196 Methods of testing cement. (Currently published as nine Parts.)
