    • Three powerful brands from one great company

Ammann was founded by Jakob Ammann in 1869. In 1911 the first Ammann motorised road roller was developed and the start of the complete line of compaction products available today.

Through constant innovation and acquisition of complementary compaction manufacturers the Ammann range now spans from 50kg Rammers to articulated tandem rollers. Having produced its first dual tandem vibratory roller in 1964 in Langenthal, Switzerland, the takeover of Duomat complemented the range. The factory in Hennef, Germany, now produces Rammers, both forward and reverse vibratory plates and walk-behind rollers.

In 1995 the acquisition of Rammax added the specialist range of trench rollers to the portfollio and in 2005 the purchase of Stavostroj (STA) of the Czech Republic increased the range of heavy tandem vibratory rollers and pneumatic tyred rollers (PTR).

In 1989 Ammann entered into a joint venture with Yanmar to produce mini excavators from a factory in Saint-Dizier France. Ammann - Yanmar has become one of the three European leaders in the mini-excavator market through its commercial and industrial policy. Initially, the company benefited from being part of the Ammann distribution network in Europe and Yanmar's technological expertise. These two assets led to our growth.

Today the Saint-Dizier plant designs and produces 18 models of conventional mini-excavators or zero-tail-swing excavators (ViO). The other ranges, including three carriers, are supplied by Yanmar directly from Japan.

Compaction products were first introduced to the UK market in the 1970s, followed by Yanmar machines in 1983. Following on from the initial success of the first dealers, the Ammann Group opened a wholly owned subsidiary in 1989, Ammann Equipment Ltd, to distribute and support Ammann, Ammann –Yanmar and Rammax products in the UK and Ireland. Operating from a centrally located head office close to Stratford–upon Avon, Warwickshire, offering the backup you would expect from a world leader.
