On a recent visit up to Scotland, and stopped off at a service station for fuel, something hit me like a sledgehammer between the eyes. A guy at one of the opposite pumps doing pretty much the same as me, was wearing an old RMC tie.
Having worn one myself with pride for quite a few years these things tend to be very recognisable and even more so since the Mexicans have taken over. Having got back into the car and continued the journey, past memories of turning up at seminars and events on your own, not knowing anyone and looking out for the un-mistakable piece of clothing to establish someone from your own tribe came flooding through my mind.
Then I wondered, how many existing staff members are still wearing these tribal colours? Very sad I know, but you have to understand Stirling is an awful long way from Nottingham!
It has been quite some time that I blogged about seeing an old RMC emblem, but I thought I'd better update it by adding I've seen an other. In one of the car dealerships in Nottingham last night I recognised a guy wearing one of the silver ties...when asked about the tie he explained he used to work for them as manager of a quarry operation and left some time ago during one of the restructures that took place. We had a chat about the old days, but both agreed that although the company has been gone for some years, the tribal colours still are recognisable !!! 20th August 10
